The Intellect Engine for Metron-DVM
Your Metron-DVM software (version 8.5 or later) has Artificial Intelligence features! The Intellect Engine is Metron’s artificial intelligence component. It serves as a powerful assistant to make your life easier.
Usually, a “core” set of AI algorithms is included with your Metron installation, with the more advanced AI algorithms residing in the cloud. The “core” algorithms are for things you do often, and the “advanced” algorithms are things like auto-measurement and auto-report generation. This advanced portion in the cloud is growing more and more powerful (and large) as we build it out — it doesn’t make sense to place it all on your desktop or laptop PC - you would need a very powerful and expensive PC.
However, for users without access to a good internet connection, it is possible for all portions of the Intellect Engine to be installed on your PC that runs Metron. In particular, equine practitioners are sometimes away from the clinic and away from a good internet connection. So, often, equine systems are installed locally, and small animal systems are driven from the cloud. Our technology is flexible, so we can make it work in whatever way is right for you. In your copy of Metron, if you look under the System tab for Intellect Engine Preferences, you can see that status of your install - whether or not local portions of the IE are installed, whether they are licensed, and whether you have an active Cloud Account or not.
Core Algorithms
The core algorithms of the Intellect engine do things such as:
Auto-Label radiographs with the proper anatomy (we recognize 96 equine anatomical views, and 40 small animal anatomic views)
Auto-Rotate images to the normal ‘right side up’ orientation - regardless of how the panel was held
Auto-Crop the collimator shadow in radiographs
Auto-Calibrate images which contain our scale markers (the “Metron Block” or the “Auto-Scaler”)
With these core algorithms, taking radiographs is easier and more automatic. You can also do things like automatically sort a bunch of unlabelled JPEG images and assign their correct anatomical label. The Core algorithms are part of your Metron software as long as you have version 8.5 or later. If they are not installed in your system, ask your dealer to install them. As long as your PC has sufficient RAM, the Core algorithms should be installed.
Advanced Algorithms
The advanced algorithms are in the form of a set of algorithms, or tools, where each analyzes a particular image type at human-expert level. The result of the analysis is a one-to-three-page PDF report. Each tool has been designed with the input of world-class experts in their domain. Below we show the current set of tools available. New tools are being added as they are developed.
The addition of Advanced Algorithms for Metron-DVM is a separately priced option that requires that you have a Metron Cloud Account. You may purchase a Cloud Account by contacting your Metron dealer of contacting us directly at info@MetronMind.com
